A Deal You Can't Refuse

Black friday/cyber monday season is a great time of year to get your hands on some new gear at good prices. Olight routinely has great sales during this time of year so I decided to pick up something new.

I scanned the Olight offerings because I was looking for a small light to try out, the Baton 4 caught my eye being about as big as a AA battery. It was 30% off and came with a charging case so I decided to pull the trigger and get my hands on one. Here are the specs if you’re curious

Unboxing Experience

If you’ve never bought an olight product before, the packaging reminds me of Apple products, the cardboard used is sturdy and well made. It feels like you’ve bought a premium product (and in my opinion you have).

Inside you’re greeted with the charging case, flashlight inside the case, usb-c cable, a lanyard, a little cleaning cloth, and finally documentation. Remember to read that stuff…

First Thoughts

After getting everything unboxed the first thing you’ll notice is the chunky charging case, it’s about 3 inches long and about 2 inches wide, definitely not pocketable but I’m betting you probably won’t notice it in a bag.

The Baton itself is tiny, about the size of a AA battery. It’s got the dual orientation clip that we’ve come to expect from Olight which I love to see.

Size comparison with the Arkfeld Pro

Speaking of the battery, it’s a small, 3.6v, 650mAh, IMR16340 rechargeable li-ion battery.

You get a magnetic bottom which doubles as your charging spot if you happen to have another Olight magnetic charging cable laying around.

Controls are basic, you get a Moonlight, low, medium, high, strobe, and turbo mode. On either side of the button you have indicators for level and battery life which is nice to see.

Outlook

Overall I have very high expectations for all Olight products. I always have great experiences with them so I don’t expect anything less from the Baton 4. Although it’s important to remember the capabilities of the device, it’s a mini flash light with a max of 1000 lumens, but it fills a niche that I’m excited to check out for myself.
